Your personal site looks pretty slick. I'm a fan of straight forward and simplistic design, and your site nicely
balances at the brink of minimalism, while at the same time providing a good deal of content.
Strengths
- I like the animated effects at the top left. They are small enought to not get annoying, like some looped effects can
be, and they showcase a few of the things you can do with Flash.
- The site looks very similar in Internet Explorer 6, Mozilla 1.5, and Opera 7.23. This is good in that it is accessible
to many different users with different technical capabilities.
- The pictures you've used add a lot to the site.
- I like the green 'frame'-ish top and left border you use, and even more I like that you didn't use frames to create that effect.
Weaknesses
- The only way to get back to the home page seems to be by clicking on the animated banner. It would be helpful if that were marked
or indicated some other way.
- Some of the images don't seem to have alt tags, which would help the site be more accessible for people with visual impairments or
who turn images off in their browsers, as well as for PDA's and other alternative browsing platforms.
- Some of the code on your site has been technically depricated by the World Wide Web Consortium,
and should probably be avoided. One such example is the bgcolor attribute to the body tag.
- The images on your site should probably have some padding, so that the text that wraps around them is more easily read.
Overall, the site looks good, and I hope you've accomplished your goals of learning about Macromedia Dreamweaver, Flash, and Fireworks.
